From A Library Writer's Blog: In response to the recent Chronicle article on blogging that really riled people, Sobriquet Magazine is looking for articles on blogging and the academic world. I'll be really interested to read more from the perspective of academics who blog.

No kidding. It seems like so much writing about blogs in the context of the academy seems to boil down to (a) they're horrible and not academic writing, (b) they're cool and edgy, like punk music, man, or (c) they're cool but you shouldn't do them because they make you lose your job. Actual discussion and evaluation of content will be something to look forward to.

I'm especially looking forward to hearing from folks whose academic careers are helped by blogging. I know a couple of the profs on my campus blog and they don't keep their non-work lives totally out of it. This helps show them off as the interesting, multifaceted people they really are. Sometimes I think students need to see more of that, not less.
